mario makers that aren't mario

Mario Maker is cool, right? All the mario makers, not just the official ones, but the homebrew ones. Lunar Magic, the flash mario demake, and all those. those are cool.

I love seeing other, indie / slightly-larger-than-indie games get their own "maker". my example is Celeste Classic. Celeste Classic is the precursor to Celeste (2018), referred to as Newleste by the Celeste Classic community. It's a small, 30 level pico-8 game made by Maddy Thorson and Noel Berry in like a week(?) It's cool, and because of the fact that it's in pico-8, anybody can go tweak the map. this means that anyone with a copy of pico-8 at their disposal can make a celeste classic mod. but what if you want more features? Everhorn is a celeste classic map editor made with LÖVE. It has autotiling, compatability with Evercore, the celeste classic mod base that includes extra sprite space, levels more than the original celeste size, and some extra stuff. together, you can make some cool mods. If you don't have a windows computer, Celeste Maker is a mario maker-esque map editor made ENTIRELY IN PICO-8. somehow SwordF managed to fit an entire level editor into a cart with celeste already in it. it's fun, intuitive, and even has autotiling! such a cool project.

Anyway, mario makers are cool. I love them! I don't know many games that have a community made level editor besides SMW, Celeste Classic, and Celeste 2018. (Games that were made in source and can have levels made with hammer don't count tbh) ok, bye bye
